Writing

I recently completed my Master of Creative Arts thesis on violent women, focusing on Aileen Wuornos, the American mass murderer, and I am in the process of seeking publication of an article The Really Strange and the Strangely Real: Aileen Wuornos on Film. I'm also off to Prague to give a paper on Aileen at the interdisciplinary conference Evil, Women and the Feminine.

I am co-editor of the publication Mediation, a collection of working papers by my RMIT University colleagues, and included in this is my biofictional piece about Wuornos and myself, titled Metal on the forefinger.

Currently I am collaborating with Dr. Jenny Weight on a thriller titled Progeny, which features women desperate to have babies, who are driven to kill. We are developing a novel and screenplay at the same time.

I am also working on a biography, which will be both black and funny, about my infertility and IVF experience. This is provisionally titled What the hell is that ticking sound? My article Babies: how I survived not having one, a brief account of this journey, was published in The Herald Sun Weekend, 31 October 2009. A short story adapted from this experience, the year of blood, was published in the independent compilation The Death Mook, Vignette Press, 2009.

I have an ongoing collaboration with artist and illustrator Claire Murphy http://drawn-by-mouse.blogspot.com/ Our short graphic story is being published in Tango 9: Love and War, a comic anthology, and our graphic novel for teenagers provisionally titled Billabong is currently under construction.

I also write web content, for example Living Greener at http://www.livinggreener.gov.au/ and work with Paris First Partners, web strategy and business management services, at http://www.parisfirst.com.au/

the collaborative film project at RMIT 'Motel' has resulted in the paper 'From Intimacy to Infinity; exploring the role of interior in 3 short films', published in the IDEA Journal 'Interior Territories', 2009.
