Bio & contact

I am fascinated by the extremes of human behaviour.

A clone who must kill her original in order to gain life herself. A woman who loops in time to do the unthinkable. A female lawyer who kills one of her trickier clients. All of these characters and more can be found in my work.

After an arts degree in history and politics at Canterbury University, I studied documentary at the University of Auckland, and then film and television (drama) at Swinburne (now VCA). I also have a Master of Creative Arts from Melbourne University, with First Class Honours.

My independent feature film I am Evangeline is touring the international film festival circuit.

I have written seven short fiction films, and directed five of those (see ‘Films’). These films have screened at many local and international festivals, and won a number of awards including Best Short Film at the Canterbury Short Film Festival.  I was co-writer of the short feature The Forest, which screened on the ABC, and played at many international festivals.

My YA novel Ruby Red (a horror/fantasy) is being considered by publishers.

commercial work

With cinematographer Adam Arkapaw

I write web copy through Briarbird.com and I love creating clean, sharp, plain-English copy. Recent web projects include The Department of Health and Human Services, PPSR, the Queensland Government, and Spinal Hub. I also direct web video content for Briarbird.

other work

My interest in female violence was extended in my Master of Creative Arts thesis about Aileen Wuornos (see ‘Writing’)

My writing work also includes many hours of educational videos for community and secondary schools, many of which I directed. I have written commercial entertainment products for BamBoom Entertainment including 16 parts of a television infotainment series Deluxe and a 52 minute special on U2.

I’m currently enjoying writing short-form non-fiction. (See my ‘blog’)
